When is the 2027 Annual Enrollment Period?

October 15 through December 7, 2026. Anything you choose in that window takes effect January 1, 2027. Here is the full runway from where we are now.

  1. By September 30, 2026

    Your ANOC letter arrives

Your plan mails an Annual Notice of Change listing every 2027 change to your costs, drug formulary, and provider network. This is the single most important piece of mail you will get all year. Keep it.

  2. October 1, 2026

    2027 plan details become public

Carriers and licensed agents may begin discussing specific 2027 plan benefits and premiums. Before this date, no agent may legally quote you 2027 plan specifics.

  3. October 15, 2026

    Annual Enrollment opens

You may switch Medicare Advantage plans, change Part D plans, or move between Original Medicare and Medicare Advantage.

  4. December 7, 2026

    Annual Enrollment closes

The last day to make a change for January 1 coverage. Missing this date generally locks in your plan for the year unless you qualify for a Special Enrollment Period.

  5. January 1 – March 31, 2027

    Medicare Advantage Open Enrollment

If you are enrolled in a Medicare Advantage plan, you get one chance to switch to a different Advantage plan or return to Original Medicare with a Part D plan.

What should Vancouver and Clark County seniors watch in 2027?

National cost numbers are only half the picture. What usually changes a Clark County resident’s coverage is local: which health systems stay in network, which clinics are accepting new Medicare patients, and whether your prescriptions moved to a different pricing tier.

  • →Provider networks. Confirm your primary care provider and specialists are in network for 2027 before you enroll, not after. Network lists are finalized for the plan year.
  • →Your drug list. A plan that covered your medication in 2026 may move it to a higher tier or drop it in 2027. With the deductible rising to $700, formulary placement matters more than it did last year.
  • →Crossing into Oregon. Many Clark County residents use Portland-area providers. If that is you, verify the plan covers care across the river the way you actually use it.

Do I need to do anything if I like my current Medicare plan?+

Review your Annual Notice of Change letter, which arrives by the end of September 2026. It lists exactly what is changing on your current plan for 2027, including costs, the drug formulary, and the provider network. Plans change every year even when you do nothing, so a plan that fit you in 2026 may not fit in 2027.
